Net Zero IOM

I was commissioned by Net Zero IOM (The Isle of Man Government’s Climate Change & Transformation Team) to deliver illustrations over the past year to help communicate their vision of a strategy towards net zero living, and to gain the support of both politicians and the public to create lasting policy change in the coming years.

Part of the project involved creating ‘vision maps’ that captured many of the complex ways the Isle of Man in particular could focus its attention to reduce climate changing emissions and maintain biodiversity, from nature based carbon capture like kelp farming, to active travel and district heating schemes.

Alongside these maps, I developed supporting illustrations and icons to explain these methods further, and illustrate the governmental reports and public consultations to help bring otherwise very technical information to life and inspire political, economic and public buy-in to the vision of net zero living on the Isle of Man.

In October 2022, the Isle of Man’s Climate Change Plan (2022-2027) that I was involved with on this project, was accepted by Tynwald (the Isle of Man parliament). The plan is the first of its kind for the Island and outlines the actions government must take to cut emissions over the next five years, so the Isle of Man remains on track to achieve net zero by 2050.
