Drawn Together

Drawn together by the belief that our stories are worth sharing with the world, the Drawn Together Collective is an international feminist collective of eighteen artists who share a passion for visual storytelling. We represent diverse backgrounds, ages, abilities and languages. Volume one of our inaugural anthology, released in the summer of 2022, is based on the theme of ‘REWILDING’.

My contribution is a short comics piece titled Anima, and is an exploration into what happens when we step out of a world of conditioned rules and expectations, and escape into something altogether more wild, unconventional and although perhaps more dangerous, ultimately more liberating.

“The artists who make up the Drawn Together collective are not in the business of staying where they’ve been told to stay, graphically or politically. Ask them politely to please make a story that follows the conventions of narrative and they won’t even bother to refuse, because they’ll be too busy crafting something much more interesting. These are stories, drawing-poems, suggestions or sometimes merely glimpses. They defy categorisation, rewilding the form of comics itself.”
